Florida Atlantic Hosts Thanksgiving Classic

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic women's basketball team hosts its Thanksgiving Classic this weekend, welcoming Air Force and Wright State on Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28. Tip-off is scheduled for 12 p.m. on Thursday and 1 p.m. on Friday. Both matches will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

A LOOK AT THE OWLS

The Florida Atlantic Owls enter this week's Thanksgiving Classic at 2-3 overall and will look to snap a three-game skid.
As a team, the Owls currently rank in the top five in the American in a few categories, ranking third in the league in free throw attempts per game (21.4) and steals per game (10.6), fourth in bench points per game (27.4), 3-point percentage (.337), 3-point percentage defense (.276), and 3-pointers per game (6.6), and fifth in scoring defense (64.4).
The Owls are led offensively by Vivian Onugha, averaging 11.6 points per game.
Onugha also leads the Owls on the boards, collecting a team-best 6.8 rebounds per contest. Haley Walker has also been a big presence on the glass for the Owls, ranking second on the team with 5.6 rebounds per game.

Perry also leads the Falcons in assists, dishing out a team-leading 3.0 per game.
Defensively, Air Force is paced on the glass by Jayda McNabb, averaging 8.3 rebounds per game. McNabb also leads the team in blocks, tallying 0.8 per game.
Bhret Clay leads the team in steals, collecting 2.3 steals per game, while McNabb ranks second for the Falcons, averaging 2.0 per game.

SCOUTING WRIGHT STATE

Wright State heads into the Thanksgiving Classic at 4-3 overall and has dropped two of its last three contests.
The Raiders are paced offensively by Rylee Sagester, Breezie Williams, and Claire Henson. Sagester boasts a team-leading 13.9 points per game, while Williams and Henson are averaging 12.0 and 10.3 per game, respectively.
Henson and Olivia Brown lead the Raiders in assists, dishing out 3.1 per game apiece.
Defensively, the Raiders are led by Henson and Chloe Chard Peloquin on the glass, collecting 8.1 and 6.6 rebounds per game, respectively. Chard Peloquin also leads Wright State in blocks, averaging 0.6 per game.
Williams is the Raiders' steals leader, tallying a team-high 1.3 steals per game.

SERIES HISTORY

FAU leads the all-time series 1-0 against Wright State. The Owls won a 68-52 contest on December 21, 2024, during the GCU Have Fayth Christmas Classic.

LAST TIME OUT: VS. FLORIDA

The Owls fell 59-51 in a hard-fought battle against the Florida Gators on Monday.
Destyne Jackson led the team in scoring with 10 points on the night. Onugha and Simmons were close behind with nine apiece.
Onugha narrowly missed her second double-double of the season, leading the team on the glass with nine boards.
The Owls outshot the Gators from the line, 76.9 percent to 73.1 percent.
Florida Atlantic won the possession game, outpacing the Gators in steals, collecting 13 to Florida's six. Moors led the Owls in this category, collecting a game-high five steals.
The Owls also bested the Gators on the offensive glass, 15 to 14, and forced Florida into more turnovers, 21 to 19.
