Owls Host Florida Monday

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women's basketball returns to Paradise Monday, Nov. 24, as they get set to host SEC foe Florida for a 7 p.m. tip-off inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena on ESPN+.

A LOOK AT THE OWLS

Florida Atlantic enters Monday's contest at 2-2 on the season, coming off a hard-fought 70-63 defeat on the road at South Alabama.
As a team, the Owls lead the American and rank 32^nd nationally in 3-point percentage (.380), FAU also ranks second in the conference in 3-pointers per game (7.5), third in bench points per game (30.0), field goal percentage (.435), fewest fouls per game (19.0), and free throw attempts per game (23.5), fourth in free throws made per game (16.0), and fifth in scoring defense (65.8), steals per game (10.), and winning percentage (.500).
The Owls' offensive leaders are Grace Carstensen and Vivian Onugha. Carstensen and Onugha are tied for a team-leading 12.2 points per game through four contests this season.

SCOUTING FLORIDA

Florida enters Monday's contest at 5-1 on the season, falling on the road at Navy, 69-54, but most recently earning an 89-67 win at home over Florida State.
The Gators are led offensively by Liv McGill, Me'arah O'neal, and Laila Reynolds. McGill boasts a team-best 26.0 points per game, while O'neal and Reynolds follow behind at 16.3 and 15.5 points per game, respectively.
McGill also leads Florida in assists and steals, tallying 6.8 assists and 4.8 steals per game this season.
O'neal paces the Gators in the boards, recording 9.0 rebounds per game, in addition to leading the team in blocks, denying 1.5 per contest.

SERIES HISTORY

Monday's matchup marks the 10thall-time meeting between Florida Atlantic and Florida. The Gators hold the all-time series lead at 8-1. In Boca Raton, the Gators hold the slight 2-1 series advantage. The Owls will look to snap a five-game skid against the Gators, which includes an 82-54 defeat during last season's season opener on Nov. 4, 2024, in Gainesville. FAU earned its sole win over the Gators on February 16, 1993, in Boca Raton.

LAST TIME OUT: AT SOUTH ALABAMA

The Owls fell in a hard-fought 70-63 road battle at South Alabama this past Thursday.
Four Owls scored in double-figures, led by Onugha with a game-best 17 points, shooting 55 percent (6-of-11) from the field and 83 percent (5-of-6) from the line. Moors and Destyne Jackson tied with 11 points apiece, and Michiyah Simmons rounded out the Owls' double-figure scorers with 10 points on the night.
Jackson dished out a game-high three assists to lead the team.
Moors led the Owls in steals, collecting a season-high six.
Haley Walker led the Owls on the glass, collecting six rebounds.
Madi Gewirtz recorded the Owls' sole block in the contest.
The Owls outscored the Jaguars in the first quarter, 16-15, and in the fourth quarter, 20-15.
Florida Atlantic also outshot South Alabama from 3-point range, 33.3 percent to 29.4 percent, and at the line, 82.8 percent to 72.4 percent, while also holding an advantage in fast break points, outscoring USA 18-11 in transition.

UP NEXT

Following Monday's contest, the Owls will host their Thanksgiving Classic Nov. 27-29, welcoming Air Force and Wright State. FAU will open the tournament on Thursday, Nov. 27, at 12 p.m. against Air Force.
