BOCA RATON, Fla. – After helping lead the Owls to a perfect 2-0 opening week, Florida Atlantic women's basketball forward
Vivian Onugha was recognized as an American Conference Honorable Mention selection, as announced by the league office on Monday.
The honor marks the first American weekly award for the Owls this season and Vivian's first career American honorable mention selection.
Onugha had a strong opening week, leading the Owls to a pair of wins over Florida Memorial and Kennesaw State. Onugha finished the week with a team-leading 30 points, averaging 15 points per game, shooting 82 percent from the field (9-of-11) and finishing 12-for-21 at the line.
She also collected a team second-best 15 boards, averaging 7.5 rebounds per game, in addition to adding two steals and a block in the Owls' two contests.
Onugha opened the week with her first NCAA double-double, scoring a career-best 24 points, shooting 80% (8-of-10) from the field and going 8-of-13 from the line, while also collecting 11 boards, two steals, and a block vs. Florida Memorial. She closed out the week with six points in addition to pulling down four boards in the Owls' win at Kennesaw State.

The Owls will continue their three-game road trek on Thursday, Nov. 13, as they head to Coral Gables to take on the Miami Hurricanes for a 7 p.m. tip on ACC Network Extra at the Watsco Center.
