BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic volleyball continues its three-game road stretch this weekend as the Owls visit Charlotte on Friday, Oct. 10, and East Carolina on Sunday, Oct. 12. Friday's first serve is scheduled for 6 p.m., while Sunday's matchup is set for 12 p.m.. Both matches will be on ESPN+.
A LOOK AT THE OWLS
- Florida Atlantic heads into the weekend at 12-5 overall and 3-1 in American play, ranking fourth in the league standings. The Owls are riding a three-game winning streak with wins over East Carolina, 3-0, North Texas, 3-1, and Temple, 3-0.
- Offensively, the Owls are led by Olivia Hart, Anna Hartman, and Erin Morrissey. Hart boasts a team-best 3.66 kills per set, while Hartman and Morrissey are averaging 2.62 and 2.43 kills per set, respectively.
- Florida Atlantic's assists leaders are Emsley Venard and Victoria Hensley. Venard boasts a team-leading 347 assists, averaging 6.09 per set, while Hensley ranks second on the team with 282 assists, dishing out 4.86 per set.
- The Owls' back row leader is Isabelle Northam, boasting a team-best 243 digs, averaging 4.50 per set. Hart ranks second on the team in digs with 156, averaging 2.69 per set.
- At the net, FAU's blocking leader is Maggie Allred. Allred has registered 65 blocks this season, averaging 1.27 blocks per set.
SCOUTING CHARLOTTE
- Charlotte has experienced a significant turnaround from last season, currently sitting at 12-4 overall and 3-1 in American play. The 49ers ended the 2024 season with just five wins, finishing last in the league. Charlotte currently ranks third in the American.
- Offensively, the 49ers are led by Kristen Birmingham, who also leads the American in kills per set, boasting a team-best 4.38 kills per set. Jessica Ricks and Jaylen Jordan rank second and third on the team, posting 3.40 and 2.67 kills per set, respectively.
- The 49ers also run a 6-2 offense, led by assists leaders Lauren Nixon and Maddie Stuesser. Nixon boasts a team-leading 340 assists, averaging 7.23 per set, while Stuesser has dished out a team-best 7.83 assists per set.
- Defensively, libero Annika Thompson leads the American and the 49ers' back row with 303 digs, averaging a conference-high 5.22 digs per set. At the net, Charlotte's block is led by Jovana Antic, recording 63 blocks and averaging 1.15 blocks per set.
SCOUTING EAST CAROLINA
- East Carolina enters the weekend at 9-6 overall and 1-3 in conference play. The Pirates are coming off their first conference win of the season, snapping a five-match losing streak with a straight-set win against the Tulane Green Wave, 3-0.
- The Pirates are led offensively by Ellie Pate, Sydney Buchanan, and Aulie Huff. Pate boasts a team-best 3.28 kills per set, while Buchanan and Huff rank second and third for the Pirates with 2.48 and 2.39 kills per set this season, respectively.
- East Carolina's assists leader is Taryn Gilreath, who boasts a team-leading 8.63 assists per set this season.
- ECU Libero Brooklyn Allison leads the Pirates' back row, averaging 4.46 digs per set, while Pate ranks second on the team with 2.47 digs per set.
- The Pirates are led at the net by Kai Bailey, Carlia Northcross, and Huff. Bailey leads the team with 1.19 blocks per set, while Northcross and Huff follow just behind, recording 1.04 and 0.84 blocks per set, respectively.
SERIES HISTORY
- Friday's contest marks the 27th all-time meeting between the Owls and the 49ers and the 13th matchup in Charlotte. Florida Atlantic holds a 10-2 record when playing in Charlotte. The Owls have won the last four meetings against the 49ers, including a pair of victories last season, sweeping Charlotte on September 29 and earning a four-set win on October 27.
- Sunday marks the eighth all-time meeting between the Owls and the Pirates, and the fifth matchup in Greenville, with the series tied 2-2. Florida Atlantic has a two-game winning streak against the Pirates, including a 3-0 sweep earlier this season on September 28.

Next week, the Owls return to Paradise for a two-game homestand, welcoming Temple and Charlotte. The Owls open the weekend against Temple on Friday, Oct. 17, for a 6 p.m. first serve, before closing out the weekend against Charlotte on Sunday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m..
