Bevelle Named Freshman of the Week, Hart Earns Honorable Mention

BOCA RATON, Fla. – After a perfect weekend that saw the Owls earn a four-set road win at Memphis on Friday and their third American Conference sweep of the season at UAB on Sunday, Florida Atlantic volleyball's Kierstin Bevelle was named the American Freshman of the Week, and Olivia Hart received American Weekly Honorable Mention honors, announced by the league office on Monday.
The honor marks the second and third American weekly awards for the Owls this season, in addition to being Bevelle and Hart's first career American weekly honors.
Bevelle registered 28 kills, averaging 4.0 kills per set, and hit an impressive .356 across the two matches. Bevelle also added six digs and a block on the weekend. On Friday, Bevelle tallied 11 kills, a block, and a dig in the four-set win over Memphis. She then closed out the weekend with a career day on Sunday, posting a career-best 17 kills and hitting a phenomenal .467, while also adding five digs in the Owls' sweep over UAB.
Hart recorded a team-best 31 kills, averaging 4.43 kills per set, while also finishing with a solid .286 hitting clip. She also added a team-best 24 digs, four aces, two assists, and a block over the Owls' two contests. Hart opened the week with her 10th career double-double, recording a team-leading 17 kills, hitting .293, and adding 15 digs, two aces, and a pair of assists in the win over Memphis. She then finished the week with 14 kills, hitting .278, and narrowly missing another career double-double with nine digs, two aces, and a block in the sweep over UAB.
