TAMPA, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic Owls return to the Sunshine State on Saturday, Jan. 18 for a matchup against the South Florida Bulls. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. at the Yuengling Center.
- The Florida Atlantic Owls enter Saturday's matchup at 9-9 overall and 1-4 in AAC play.
- As a team, The Owls lead the AAC in fouls per game (13.5) and rebounds per game (42.4), in addition to ranking third in offensive rebounds per game (14.1), fourth in field goal percentage defense (38.8), defensive rebounds per game (28.3), and 3-point attempts per game (19.8), and fifth in rebounding margin (1.7) and scoring defense (64.2).
- The Owls offense is paced by Mya Perry, who ranks fifth in the AAC in points scored and points per game, averaging 15.8 points per game this season. The Owls second leading scorer is Jada Moore, scoring 12.1 points per game.
- Stefanie Ingram ranks second in the AAC in assists with 88 and third in assists per game, dishing out a team-leading 4.9 assists per game this season.
- Defensively, the Owls' rebounding leader is Ta'Ziah Jenks, collecting a team-leading 6.6 rebounds per game.
- Jenks also leads the Owls in steals, recording 1.5 steals per game, and Alana Rouser is the Owls' blocks leader, posting 0.8 blocks per game.
- South Florida enters Saturday's matchup at 11-8 overall and 4-2 in league play, ranking tied for 4th in the AAC. The Bulls are on a two-game skid after having dropped contests against North Texas, 72-65, and UAB, 62-61.
- As a team, the Bulls rank first in the AAC in 3-point percentage (.355) and turnovers per game (15.1), in addition to ranking second in assist/turnover ratio (0.91), scoring defense (59.8), turnover margin (2.05), third in 3-point percentage defense (29.0), fourth in rebounding margin (2.1) and steals per game (9.2), and fifth in scoring margin (3.8).
- The Bulls are led offensively by Sammie Puisis and Vittoria Blasigh. Puisis ranks third in the AAC in points and sixth for points per game, averaging 15.1 points per game this season. Blasigh rounds out the Bulls double figure scorers, tallying 10.2 points per game.
- South Florida's assists leader is Mama Dembele, who leads the AAC in assists with 93 and ranks tied for second in assists per game, averaging 4.9 per contest.
- Defensively, the Bulls are led on the glass by Carla Brito, who ranks seventh in the AAC in rebounds per game, averaging 7.5 boards per contest. L'or Mputu ranks second on the team in rebounding and ninth in the AAC, collecting 7.1 rebounds per game. Mputu leads South Florida in blocked shots and ranks 6th in the league with 20 blocks, averaging 1.05 blocks per game, which ranks 11th.
- South Florida holds the all-time series lead between the Owls and the Bulls, 10-8. USF also leads 9-2 on games played in Tampa, however, the Owls won the last meeting between the two teams, earning a 67-55 win last season on Feb. 17, 2024, in Tampa.
- On Wednesday, the Owls fell in a 79-64 road battle at Tulsa.
- Mya Perry led the way for the Owls with 20 points, shooting 5-of-17 from the field, 3-of-10 from 3-point range, and going a perfect 7-of-7 from the line, in addition to collecting three boards and two steals.
- Maria Myklebust also scored double-figures for the Owls, finishing with a season-high 14 points, shooting 45 percent (5-of-11) from the floor, 43 percent (3-of-7) from beyond the arc, and knocking down a free throw, in addition to adding eight rebounds.
- Jada Moore rounded out the Owls double-figure scorers, scoring 12 points, going 3-of-13 from the floor and a perfect 6-of-6 at the line, in addition to adding four boards and a steal.
- Ta'Ziah Jenks finished with a team-high 11 boards, marking her third game with 10 or more rebounds this season. Jenks also led the team in assists, dishing out a team-high five.
- Florida Atlantic outscored Tulsa 23-17 in the second.
- The Owls held an advantage in points off turnovers, 13-7, in addition to outshooting the Golden Hurricane at the line, 73.7 percent to 60 percent.
- Following Saturday's contest, the Owls will return to Paradise for a two-game homestand against Charlotte and North Texas.
