Kittley Finalizes First Additions to Football Coaching Staff

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic football has finalized the first additions to its on-field coaching staff, as announced Friday by Hagerty Family Head Coach Zach Kittley.
The Owls' newest hires to the full-time, on-field staff include Brett Dewhurst (defensive coordinator), Tyler Schovanec (special teams coordinator), Chris Perkins (running backs), DJ McCarthy (wide receivers), Jajuan Dulaney (tight ends), Stephen Hamby (offensive line), Devin Santana (defensive line) and Aaron Schwanz (inside linebackers).
Kittley was hired as the Owls' head coach in December, coming to Boca Raton following a successful three-year stint at Texas Tech as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. One of the brightest offensive minds in college football, Kittley's teams have consistently ranked among the nation's leaders in total offense, scoring and passing.
"This is a special group of coaches, and I am fired up for their commitment to Florida Atlantic," said Kittley. "From the start, our goal was to hire good people, first and foremost. This is a staff that possesses a wide range of experience and expertise, with strong recruiting ties to the areas that are most important to us. Not just outstanding men, these guys will teach the game at a high level and be a positive influence on our student-athletes on and off the field."
Perkins has been a member of FAU's staff since 2017, while Schovanec joined Kittley from Texas Tech. McCarthy previously served as an FAU assistant coach in 2017 and 2019. Santana was a defensive lineman for the Owls in 2014.
In addition to his on-field coaches, Kittley has announced the support staff hires of Harrison Hanna as chief of staff and Brandon Lee as head strength and conditioning coach.
Additional full-time coaching and support staff hires will be announced at a later date.
