Owls Set to Play Two Games on the Road

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women's soccer will travel to take on the Eagles of FGCU on Thursday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m. before going to play their second SEC opponent of the season on Sunday, Sept. 8, when the Owls will face the Lady Vols.
Florida Atlantic (0-3-2) will remain on the road to play FGCU (1-3-0). The match on Thursday evening will be the fourth time these two programs face each other (the last matchup was Sept. 7, 2023). In their last meeting, the Owls won 1-0 in Boca Raton. Remaining on the road, Florida Atlantic will take on Tennessee for the second time in program history. Last season, the Owls played against the Lady Vols in Paradise, where they fell 2-0 after only playing 76 minutes.
The Sunday afternoon marks the first time the Owls play in Knoxville. The match will air on SEC Network+. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. This match marks the last SEC opponent of the regular season for Florida Atlantic.
ABOUT THE OWLS
- Head Coach Patrick Baker is in his 12th season at the helm of the Owls
- Baker is the only women's soccer coach in history to go to a Division I, II, and III postseason tournament
- Florida Atlantic is in its second year in the American Athletic Conference after making it to the AAC Semifinals last season
- The Owls have an 0-3-2 overall record thus far after falling to Alabama on the road
- Michelle Horan, Olivia Bori, Drew Dempsey, and Stella Rubidoux each have recorded a goal for the Owls
- Horan scored the equalizer less than a minute later to put Florida Atlantic on the board against Alabama
- Dempsey her eighth career goal in the 85th minute of the match
