FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened their 2024-25 campaign against Indian River on Friday.
The women's team took the win, while the men's team staged an impressive day before ultimately falling to Indian River.
Overall, the Owls saw contributions from both newcomers and returners across the board.
Women
- The women started the meet off with a win in the 200 medley relay. The team of Aura Vilarrasa, Ludo Pavia, Roberta Circi, and Izzy Jones logged a time of 1:44.87
- The victories continued with Cecilia Carvalho taking the win in the 500 yard free and 1000 free in times of (5:08.05 and 10:27.53)
- Pavia also took the victory in the 100 yard breast with a time of 1:04.58
- Senior Dolores Margni began her season with wins in the 100 and 200 yard butterfly (57.78 and 2:05.98)
- Jones continued her winning ways, winning both the 50 yard free and 100 free in times of 23.89 and 52.71.
- Nula Gow took the win in the 200 breast (2:22.02)
- In the 1-meter dive, Trinity McNall took second with a score of 229.58
- The day concluded with two more wins for the Owls. Yasemine Safargar won the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.67 and the women were victorious in the 200 free relay. The team of Bry Bellile, Pavia, Margni, and Jones recorded a time of 1:36.81
Men
- Timo Paisley got the first win of the season for the men's side, winning the 200 free in a time of 1:41.04
- Logan Thornsberry took the win in the 100 free (46:16)
- On the 1-meter dive, Trevor Kuhn was the winner with a score of 292.80
- In his first competition with the Owls, Isac Faxius won the 3-meter dive (327.90)
- Peyton Ming placed second in the 100 yard back in a time of 51.03
- Luke Beals finished second in the 50 free with a time of 21.71
- The men closed out the meet placing third in the 200 free relay. Ming, Beals, Brett Reason, and Jayden Repak recorded a time of 1:25.19
The Owls will next take part in the TYR Fall Classic hosted by FIU on Friday, Oct. 4th & Saturday, Oct. 5th.
