BOCA RATON, Fla. – After concluding her playing career with the Florida Atlantic softball team in 2024, Katelynn De Leon will remain with the Owls as an assistant coach, as announced by Head Coach Jordan Clark.
De Leon made 35 starts as a catcher for FAU and earned a spot on the All-AAC Team for an Owls team that won 41 games and the American Athletic Conference regular season conference championship. With De Leon, Florida Atlantic made an appearance in the NCAA Regional for the first time since 2016.
De Leon also serves as the head coach for the Rock softball travel team in south Florida and most recently worked at TBT Sports Academy in Boca Raton.
A Pembroke Pines native, De Leon attended Pembroke Pines Charter High School where she was a state champion. She then spent the first four years of her collegiate career playing at Troy University.
"It's sweet being able to name Kate as one of our assistant coaches. There are very few players you coach and know they were born to lead in this profession. Kate is one of those people we need to continue growing the game of softball at the collegiate level. Her maturity, positivity, and passion for people is next level and I am beyond thankful we get to keep her in Paradise to start her coaching career."
