Five Owls Named Individual Scholar All-American

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Five members of the Florida Atlantic men's and women's swimming & diving teams have earned an individual Scholar All-American honor for the 2023-24 academic year, as announced by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
In addition to FAU receiving team honors for both the fall 2023 and spring 2024 semesters, Alicia Mora, Grace Powell, and Selina Staudenherz of the women's team as well as Dalton Lillbridge and Jack Sheehan from the men's team each received an individual honor.
To qualify for First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes must have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher and participated in their national championship. Second-Team selections must have also earned a 3.5 GPA or higher and met a "B" time standard for the national championship or qualified for a diving zone qualification meet.
Mora was named to the first team after making history as the first Owl to qualify for the NCAA Championships in consecutive seasons. In the preliminary rounds, she finished in 30th place on the 3-meter dive and 32nd on the 1-meter. Mora, who received her MS in business analytics, finished the semester with a 3.890 GPA.
Staudenherz and Powell qualified for second team honors after each participated in the 'Zone B' Diving Championships with top scores of 253.55 (1-meter) and 251.25 (3-meter), respectively. Staudenherz, majoring in marketing, graduated after a 3.934 GPA in the spring 2024 semester, while Powell tallied a 3.668 GPA. This marks Staudenherz' second career individual honor.
On the men's side, Lillibridge and Sheehan each earned a second team honor. Lillibridge's time of 53.42 in the 100 breast was both a school record and an NCAA 'B' cut. Pursuing an MED in Counselor Education, he recorded 3.665 GPA. Sheehan, earning his MS in biomedical sciences, posted a perfect 4.0 GPA and earned an NCAA 'B' cut with a time of 24.89 in the 50 breast.
