TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 16-ranked Florida Atlantic beach volleyball team (12-13, 2-2 CUSA) opened up play in the FSU Unconquered Invitational on Friday, falling in a pair of ranked battles against No. 20 Texas A&M – Corpus Christi (24-4, 7-0 SLC) and No. 10 LMU (19-8).

NO. 16 FLORIDA ATLANTIC 2 – NO. 20 TAMCC 3

Texas A&M – Corpus Christi took the opening lead as Olivia Strandberg and Shayna Wolf fell to the Islanders' Elizabeth Cortez and Kela Moreno in two sets, 19-21, 18-21, on court five. The Sandy Owls answered back to even the dual up at 1-1 after Kate McLaughlin and Mikayla Law-Heese defeated TAMCC's Tori Johnson and Raven Jordan in straight sets on court four, 21-18, 21-18. Florida Atlantic then took the lead on court three after Ashleigh Adams and Julie Honzovicova earned a dominant straight-set victory against the Islanders' Hannah Doyle and Stephanie Young, 21-14, 21-19. TAMCC evened things up with a court one win as Marketa Svozilova and Sloane Woolwine fell 16-21, 14-21 against the Islanders' Kristin Bobay and Madison Morrow. Courtney Moon and Brooklyn Goedhart looked to close out the match for the Sandy Owls but fell just short in a three-set battle against TAMCC's Cassie Dodd and Chloe Tome, falling 29-27, 19-21, 12-15 as the Islanders took the dual, 3-2.

LMU took the opening point on court five as Kate McLaughlin and Mikayla Law-Heese fell in two against the Lions' Madilyn Firnett and Abbey Thorup, 9-21, 14-21. The Lions tacked on their second point on court four after Logan Mignerey and Alivia Orvieto dropped a two-setter against LMU's Cassie Chinn and Chloe Hooker, 11-21, 17-21. LMU clinched the match on court three as Courtney Moon and Brooklyn Goedhart fell in two against the Lions' Anna Pelloia and Jacinda Ramirez, 13-21, 21-23. Ashleigh Adams and Julie Honzovicova put the Owls on the board with their second win of the day on court two. The duo dropped their opening set but rallied to capture the second 21-19 and finishing the match with a strong 15-10 third set against LMU's Isabelle Reffel and Alisha Stevens. However, LMU took the final point on court one after Marketa Svozilova and Sloane Woolwine fell just short in a three-set battle against the Lions' top pair of Vilhelmiina Prihti and Michelle Shaffer, 18-21, 21-19, 13-15.
