TAMPA, Fla. – Florida Atlantic baseball begins a three-game series against USF on Friday night in Tampa. The Owls and the Bulls both enter the weekend at 7-8 in the AAC, part of a four-way tie for fourth in the conference.
Florida Atlantic will be looking to get back on the winning track after defeats in each of their last three. On Tuesday at Miami, the Owls took a 2-0 lead in the first inning but the offense went cold after that en route to a 5-2 final.
John Schroeder has reached base in 11 straight games. The junior outfielder/catcher leads the Owls with 34 RBI. Schroeder is also just two hits away from 100 for his career.
Jalen DeBose is hitting .382 (13-for-34) across the last 10 games. DeBose has nine runs scored and eight stolen bases in that stretch.
USF has dropped four straight including a sweep at the hands of Rice last weekend. Offensively, the Bulls are led by senior infielder John Montes with six home runs, 35 RBI, and a .350 average. On the mound, projected Friday night starter Hunter Mink is 3-4 with a 5.04 ERA. Mink struck out 10 in a no-decision last week against Rice.
Florida Atlantic and USF met in Boca Raton last season where the Owls took two of three. All-time, USF holds a 15-5 advantage.
The Owls close out another stretch of five straight on the road on Tuesday at Florida. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
