FORT MYERS, Fla. – The No. 16-ranked Florida Atlantic beach volleyball team (12-7) secured a 5-0 sweep over PBA (9-12) and earned a 4-1 win against FGCU (10-10, 2-2 ASUN) on Wednesday in Fort Myers.
Kate McLaughlin and
Logan Mignerey got things started for the Sandy Owls, securing their first straight-set win of the day against Palm Beach Atlantic's Katelyn Nadeau and Karla Cantero, 21-18, 21-14.
Mikayla Law-Heese and
Olivia Strandberg extended Florida Atlantic's lead to 2-0 after picking up a dominant two-set win on court five against the Sailfish's Abby Plevin and Julia Golichowski, 21-11, 21-13.
Reese Edwards and
Sloane Woolwine clinched the match for the Sandy Owls on court one, earning another straight-set win against PBA's Gabriella Aziz andn Abigail Mason, 21-17, 21-19.
Courtney Moon and
Brooklyn Goedhart pushed the Florida Atlantic lead to 4-0, rallying to capture a three-set comeback win against PBA's Anna Dunbar and Eva Herz, 17-21, 21-14, 15-10.
Ashleigh Adams and
Julie Honzovicova rounded out the Sandy Owls' match against PBA, earning Florida Atlantic's fourth straight-set win over the Sailfish's Annika Huhtamaki and Lola Ackman, 21-17, 21-18.

Logan Mignerey gave Florida Atlantic some insurance, pushing the lead to 2-0 after capturing a three-set battle against the Eagles' Jaci Carpenter and Mia Thompson, 21-15, 16-21, 15-12.

Julie Honzovicova clinched the match for the Sandy Owls on court three, picking up a straight-set win against FGCU's Kaitlyn Luebbers and Nicole De Oliveira, 21-17, 21-19. FGCU finally got on the board with the fourth finish of the day, cutting the Sandy Owls lead to 3-1 after
Brooklyn Goedhart and
Sloane Woolwine dropped a 17-21, 9-21 battle against the Eagles' Kacie Johnson and Emma Soncrant. However the Sandy Owls 1s pair closed out the day, securing Florida Atlantic's fourth point with its third straight-set win of the match, defeating FGCU's Shelby Beisner and Trinity Rosales, 21-11, 21-19, to give the Sandy Owls the 4-1 win.
