BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic's men's basketball team (22-7 11-4 AAC) took down Tulane (13-15, 4-12 AAC) by a score of 79-73 on Saturday afternoon.
The Owls picked up their 11th straight home win to move to 12-1 on the season and have been victorious in 30 of their last 31 games played at the Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.
Junior center Vlad Goldin led the way yet again with his fifth outing in six games with 20+ points and his fourth in a row.
The Owls played from behind for much of the half, but an 11-1 run helped put them ahead by seven entering the locker room.
Redshirt sophomore guard
Nick Boyd knocked down back-to-back triples with senior guard
Jalen Gaffney adding one of his own to spark the Owls' stretch that gave them a lead they did not relinquish.
Florida Atlantic aggressively crashed the boards throughout, with junior guard
Alijah Martin tying his season high with 10 rebounds in the first half alone.
A 17-2 run turned a slight Owls' advantage into a 20-point lead. It was a balanced scoring attack with eight different players finding a bucket.
Goldin's offensive takeover continued, scoring 12 points on 6-for-8 shooting with multiple highlight dunks in his arsenal.
While the Green Wave brought the deficit within six, it was not enough for an FAU team that brought their A-game from the charity stripe, sinking 11 of their last 12 free throw attempts.
- For the second time this season, two Owls: Goldin (21 points, 12 rebounds) and Martin (13 points, 11 rebounds) had a double double in one game
- Martin's 11 boards ties his career high
- Boyd also joined the rebounding fun with a season high seven
- Gaffney tallied 13 points for his first double digit outing since January 14
- Junior guard Johnell Davis dished out a game high five assists
- The Owls won the total assist battle 16-7
The Florida Atlantic Owls will hit the road for the last time in the regular season, taking on North Texas (15-12, 8-7 AAC) on Wednesday, Mar. 2, tipping off at 8 p.m. EST and airing on ESPN+.
