BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic's second practice in full pads was followed by "Pro Day" 2024.
The Owls returned to the practice fields with Saturday's first full day in pads reviewed and corrected. Tuesday's practice again focused on ball security and tackling as well as seven-on-seven and team.
Once practice was complete, attention turned to former Owls who participated in Pro Day 2024. Nearly a dozen former FAU football players participated in weights and measurements as well as the on-field drills. The workouts were held before 29 scouts representing 27 NFL teams and one CFL team were on hand.
Hagerty Family Head Football Coach Tom Herman On how the newcomers are adjusting
"There is certainly a learning curve when it comes to the way we expect practice to be. All of them are plenty athletic enough and the transfer newcomers have some college football under their belt. We like to think our way of preparing and going about things is a little bit different, so there has been some adjustment in terms of the intensity and expectations of practice, but they all fit in terms of ability for sure."
Redshirt Junior Running Back Zuberi Mobley On returning to practice
"It felt good. Recovering from my shoulder injury and finally able to be out here, I feel like a new person, a new player."
On the running back room
"The guys that we have, I trust all of them. And the guys that they bring in, as long as they follow the gameplan, I trust them out there."
On who stands out among the newcomers
"I like BJ (Graduate WR BJ Alexander), I feel like he has something to prove. I like the quarterbacks we have. I like the receivers we have. I think everybody is going to make an impact on this team."
Graduate DE Kyler Laing On adjusting to FAU
"Just transferring from Buffalo, the weather is a big change from the Buffalo climate to down here, but I was born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida so I have some ties to the Florida heat. I think the biggest transition is just mastering the playbook, reading my keys, understanding what I have to do in certain situations."
On what he has enjoyed most
"Just hanging out with my d-line brothers. The d-line as a unit is close, so everybody is pushing each other and there is a lot of competition in the room, so each day is just a full-out competition every day."
