BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic baseball faces Towson for its home opener this Friday night at 6:30 p.m. With a full slate of activities happening in and around the ballpark, there has never been a better time to check out the Owls at the FAU Baseball Stadium.
Head coach
John McCormack's squad opened the season last weekend in a competitive series at No. 6 Vanderbilt. The Owls won the middle game, 5-4, and nearly took the season opener before falling in a ninth-inning walk off by the Commodores, 12-11.
Bryan Boully got the win in relief for FAU Saturday, firing 3.2 shutout innings with six strikeouts, while
John Schroeder hit .417 for the weekend with four doubles, two RBI and three runs.
Following Friday's home opener, the series continues versus Towson on Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m.
As part of a $300,000 gift from the Berman Law Group this off-season, the addition of 10 cabanas down the left-field line is the first phase of the Berman Zone. Future plans for the zone include a number of additional family and fan-friendly enhancements to be installed.
Of the 10 cabanas, one is reserved for the Berman Law Group, with the other nine open to all FAU Baseball season ticketholders and Paradise Club members, free of charge.
Seating inside the cabanas is available on a first-come, first-serve basis on game days. To begin the season, the school has established a cabana policy that prohibits fans from reserving cabanas in advance, and fans are discouraged from holding spots for other fans. A game-day representative will be available to manage the cabana area.
Other features to check out on Friday night include the fan zone area with Giant Jenga and a pitching accuracy game. Fans can participate in friendly competitions and enjoy casual gaming before the game starts. Be sure to grab a team poster on the way in as well.
Once the game begins, keep an eye out for a full slate of between-inning entertainment including the always popular Stump Coach Mac, t-Shirt toss, and a dizzy bat race.
