BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic freshman
Panna Bartha has been named the American Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the AAC on Tuesday.
While the honor is a weekly award, Bartha's college debut has been perfect and that includes last week. She was 4-0 in last week's competitions. The true freshman from Hungary won her court #3 doubles match versus host and fellow AAC member South Florida 6-4 and her court #1 singles match 7-5, 6-3. The following day, she and Amber McGinnins clinched the doubles point for the Owls with a court #3 7-5 victory over the AAC's North Texas. Then Bartha went to work capturing court #1 6-1, 6-4.
On the season, the freshman is 7-0 in singles play, all on court #1, and has been forced to a third set just once. She holds a 4-2 doubles record playing with three different partners.
Bartha will lead the Owls this weekend versus South Alabama on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 10 am., in a match that was recently added. The match will be played at the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center and is free and open to the public.
