Owls Wrap Up Busy Weekend in Miami

MIAMI – Florida Atlantic men's and women's swimming teams wrapped up a busy two meet weekend in Miami. Starting off with a tri-meet versus Miami (women) and Cincinnati, the Owls then had select swimmers compete in the 2024 edition of the CSCAA Open Water National Championships, hosted by FIU Sunday.

Swimming in Biscayne Bay, the 2024 race saw 240 athletes compete with the women's race having 108 swimmers, while the men's race saw 95 swimmers competing in the 5k.

QUICK HITS

The Owl men had a team compiled of Logan Thornsberry, Francesco Fiore and Takoda Heckman finish in a team total time of 3:46.36
Thornsberry was the Owls highest finisher coming in 31st place
On the women's side, the Owls team of Ella Freeman, Presley Staretz, Alex Stevens and Talitha McEwan complied a time of 3:36.30, good for 15th place
Freeman led the Owls finishing in 52nd place

ON DECK

The Owls will hop right back into the pool as the whole swimming squad will get together to host the FAU Fun Invite on Dec 20. against Old Dominion and Rice at the FAU Aquatic Center.
