BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic Owls are set to open their 2024-25 home slate on Saturday, hosting the Mercer Bears in their home opener inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. ET.
- The Florida Atlantic Owls enter Saturday's matchup at 0-1 overall after falling in a hard-fought 82-54 battle at Florida this past Monday.
- In their season opener, the Owls are led offensively by Jada Moore and Stefanie Ingram, who tallied 18 and 12 points, respectively. Moore and Ingram are also tied for a team-leading two assists through one contest.
- Alana Rouser leads the Owls on the boards, pulling down a season-best 12 boards, in addition to adding a team-leading two steals in the season opener at Florida.
- Evie Van Der Woude and Kristina Godfrey both tallied a block against the Gators.
- Mercer is in its first year under head coaching veteran Michelle Clark-Heard and is 1-0 to start the 2024-25 season after earning a 75-52 win over UNC Asheville.
- Aliyah Collins and Ashlee Locke are the Bears offensive leaders, tallying 14 points each during their season opener.
- Locke also leads the Bears on the boards, registering her first double-double of the season with 10 boards, while also tying Ariana Bennett for a team-leading one block.
- Mercer's assists leader is Talia Harris with five assists through their first contest.
- Bennett, Nahawa Diarra, and Chelsea Bautista lead Mercer in steals, collecting two steals apiece.
- Mercer leads the all-time series against Florida Atlantic, 23-14, however Florida Atlantic holds the slight edge on contests played in Boca Raton, 8-7. Mercer has won the last four meetings between the Owls and the Bears, including a 70-62 win last season on Nov. 9, 2023 in Macon, Georgia.
- Florida Atlantic faced off against the Florida Gators to open up the 2024-25 season this past Monday, falling in a hard-fought 82-54 battle.
- Jada Moore led the way for the Owls with 18 points, shooting 50 percent (7-of-14) from the field and adding four rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
- Stefanie Ingram also finished in double-figures for the Owls, tallying 12 points, shooting 33 percent (4-of-12) from the floor and 33 percent (2-of-6) from 3-point range.
- Alana Rouser had a phenomenal first collegiate game, leading the Owls defensively with 12 rebounds and a team-best two steals.
