BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic Owls have a split weekend as they close out their six-game homestand on Friday, Oct. 4 against Memphis, before heading out on their first AAC road trip of the year, traveling to Philadelphia on Sunday to take on Temple.
- Florida Atlantic enters this weekend's matches at 9-5 overall and 1-1 in AAC play. The Owls are just coming off their AAC-opening weekend which saw the Owls fall in a four-set battle against East Carolina, 3-1 but earn their first AAC sweep of the season against Charlotte, 3-0.
- Natalie Depaula earned back-to-back AAC Freshman of the Week honors after a strong AAC opening weekend. Depaula led the Owls with 20 kills, averaging 2.86 kills per set and hitting an astounding .429, and added three digs and three blocks over the Owls' pair of matches. She opened the week with 10 kills, hitting .444, along with two digs and three blocks against ECU. She closed the week with another 10-kill performance, turning in a .412 hitting clip, to go along with a dig in the sweep over Charlotte.
- This season, the Owls have been led offensively by Valeria Rosado and Katelynn Robine, averaging 3.00 and 2.89 kills per set, respectively.
- The AAC and Owls assists leader is Victoria Hensley, who has dished out 585 assists and is averaging a league-leading 10.64 assists per set.
- Brianna Anderson, Olivia Hart, Valeria Rosado, Isabelle Northam, Hensley, and Romina Cornelio all contribute on the back row for the Owls, averaging 2.75, 2.47, 2.46, 2.26, 2.22, and 2.05 digs per set, respectively.
- At the net, the Owls are led by Kaila Ru, Madison Dyer, Depaula, and Maggie Allred, posting 1.30, 0.80, 0.79, and 0.70 blocks per set, respectively.
- Memphis enters Friday's match at 7-7 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The Tigers fell in four to Wichita State in their AAC opener last weekend but closed out the weekend with a 3-0 sweep over UAB.
- Memphis is paced offensively by Hannah Jones, averaging 3.06 kills per set, and Clara Bednarek, who is tallying 2.32 kills per set this season.
- The Tigers offense is powered by lead setter Jordan Heatherly, dishing out 450 assists, averaging 9.18 assists per set.
- Memphis' back row is led by Abigail Schlueter, recording 4.16 digs per set, followed by Tabytha Toelke and Heatherly with 2.81 and 2.53 digs per set, respectively.
- Bednarek and Tiffany Snook lead the Tigers in blocks, notching 0.82 and 0.50 blocks per set, respectively.
- The Temple Owls enter this weekend's matches at 6-8 overall and 0-2 in league play, after falling to Wichita State, 3-1, and Tulsa, 3-0.
- The Owls are led offensively by Taylor Davenport and Sydney Jones, averaging 4.43 and 2.92 kills per set, respectively.
- Temple runs a dual-setter offense. Lexi Yoza leads the way for Temple with 329 assists and averaging 6.71 assists per set, followed by Ava Blascziek with 170 and averaging 4.59 assists per set.
- Defensively, Temple's back row is led by Yoza, Hikialani Kaohelaulii, and Jones, averaging 2.27, 2.12, and 2.00 digs per set, respectively, while Katie Hickey, Chelci Banks, and Alyssa Finister lead the Owls in blocks, averaging 1.07, 0.82, and 0.75 blocks per set, respectively.
- Following this weekend's matches, the Owls will remain on the road as they head to Tulsa on Friday, Oct. 11, and Wichita State on Sunday, Oct. 13.
