HOUSTON– On Sunday morning, the doubles duo of
Millie-Mae Matthews and
Malwina Rowinska of the Florida Atlantic women's tennis team made history by playing in the first American Athletic Conference Individual Championship Doubles Final, aired on ESPN+.
The Owls captured a hard-fought first set by a 7-5 score. FAU dropped the second set 6-1 to force a third and deciding set. Tulsa won the third, 10-7, and will be the AAC representatives at the ITA Conference Masters Nov. 7-10 at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Ga., where they will fight for one of three bids to the NCAA Individual Championships.
The weekend drew a close to seven days, including two competitive tennis tournaments. They will next travel to Clemson, South Carolina, to participate in the ITF Tournament hosted by Clemson.
