BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic Owls (5-11, 0-5 AAC) travel to the Volunteer State this weekend to take on the Memphis Tigers (5-12, 1-4 AAC) on Saturday, Jan. 20 for a 3 p.m. ET tip inside FedEx Forum.
- The Owls head into this weekend's matchup at 5-11 overall and 0-5 in American Athletic Conference play.
- As a team, the Owls rank third in the AAC in fewest fouls per game (14.8), sixth in 3-pointers per game (6.1), and seventh in rebounding margin (1.1), rebounds per game (38.69), and free throw attempts per game (18.75).
- Offensively the Owls are led this season by Aniya Hubbard, Jada Moore, Mya Perry, and Janeta Rozentale. Hubbard boasts a team-leading 17.1 points per game, while Moore, Perry, and Rozentale round out the Owls' double-figure scorers with 12.6, 12.3, and 10.0 points per game, respectively.
- Moore leads the AAC in 3-point percentage, averaging an impressive .452 from beyond the arc.
- Rose Caverly and Devyn Scott lead the Owls in assists, dishing out 2.0 and 1.9 assists per game, respectively.
- Defensively, Rozentale leads the Owls on the boards, grabbing a team-best 9.1 rebounds per game. Moore leads the team in steaks, earning 1.3 takeaways per game, while Dyllan Hanna boasts a team-leading 0.9 blocks per game.
- Florida Atlantic's third-quarter rally fell just short last Saturday as the Owls dropped an 81-72 fight against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.
- The Owls Owls were led by double-figure performances from Jada Moore, Janeta Rozentale, and Aniya Hubbard.
- Moore registered her first career double-double, tying for a team-high 18 points, shooting 55 percent (6-of-11) from the field and 75 percent (6-of-8) from the line, and adding a team-leading 10 rebounds to go along with a pair of assists, a block, and a steal.
- Rozentale also tied for a team-leading 18 points, shooting 67 percent (8-of-12) from the field and going a perfect 100 percent (2-of-2) at the charity stripe. She also added a team second-best six rebounds, in addition to an assist and a steal.
- Aniya Hubbard rounded out the Owls double-figures scorers with 11 points, alongside three steals, two assists, and a board.
- Florida Atlantic held the advantage in the second and third quarters, outscoring Tulsa 20-18 in the second and 23-22 in the third.
- The Owls outshot the Golden Hurricane 49 percent to 46 percent from the field and 81.8 percent to 66.7 percent from the free throw line.
- Florida Atlantic also held advantages on points in the paint, 34-30, and points off the bench, 23-9.
- Memphis enters Saturday's contest at 5-12 overall and 1-4 in AAC play. The Tigers picked up their first league win on Jan. 14 against Temple, 59-57, but fell in their last matchup against the Wichita State Shockers, 71-66.
- The Tigers are led by Head Coach Alex Simmons who is in their first year in Memphis.
- As a team, Memphis ranks second in the AAC in offensive rebounds per game (17.0), blocks per game (4.8), steals per game (10.1), and turnovers forced per game (20.8), fourth in turnover margin (3.4), fifth in rebounds per game (39.4), sixth in bench points per game (21.4), and seventh in scoring offense (67.5) and 3-point attempts per game (19.0).
- The Tigers are paced offensively by Madison Griggs, who is the only Tiger averaging double-digits with 16.9 points per game.
- Alasia Smith leads the Tigers in rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks, averaging 9.1 boards per game, 2.4 assists per game, 2.1 steals per game, and 1.3 blocks per game this season.
- Saturday will mark the first-ever meeting between the Owls and the Tigers.
- After Saturday's contest, the Owls will return to Paradise to host the ECU Pirates on Thursday, Jan. 25 for the Owls' Staff Appreciate game. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.
