BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women's basketball (5-10, 0-4 AAC) will close out its two-game homestand on Saturday as the Owls welcome the Tulsa Golden Hurricane (12-5, 2-2 AAC) for a 2 p.m. tip inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.
- The Owls are currently on a five-game skid and enter Saturday's matchup at 5-10 overall and 0-4 in AAC play.
- Florida Atlantic ranks in the top half of the AAC in a few different categories. The Owls rank second in the league in fewest fouls per game (14.5), third in 3-point percentage (.319), sixth in 3-pointer per game (6.1) and free throw attempts per game (18.53), and seventh in 3-point attempts per game (19.0).
- Offensively, the Owls have been paced by Aniya Hubbard, Mya Perry, and Jada Moore. Hubbard boasts a team-leading 18.2 points per game, while Perry and Moore have recorded 12.4 and 12.2 points per game, respectively.
- Rose Caverly is the Owls' assists leader this season, dishing out a team-best 2.1 assists per game.
- The Owls defensive leaders have been Janeta Rozentale, Moore, and Dyllan Hanna. Rozentale ranks second in the AAC and leads the Owls with 9.3 rebounds per game. Moore has collected a team-leading 1.3 steals per game, while Dyllan Hanna leads the Owls in blocks, denying 1.0 shots per contest.
- Florida Atlantic fell in a midweek battle against the UTSA Roadrunners, 73-60, on Wednesday.
- Three Owls turned in double-figure performances against UTSA, led by Mya Perry's third 20-point performance of the season.
- Perry netted a team-leading 21 points, shooting 44 percent (7-of-16) from the field, including a career-best seven made 3-pointers, shooting 58 percent (7-of-12) from deep. The sophomore also added five rebounds, an assist, a steal, and a block.
- Jada Moore finished with a team second-best 16 points, shooting 45 percent (5-of-11) from the field, 50 percent (2-of-4) from 3-point range, and 80 percent (4-of-5) at the line. She also collected seven rebounds and tied her season-high with six assists, in addition to collecting a pair of steals.
- Maria Myklebust had the best game of her season so far, scoring a season-high 12 points, shooting 63 percent (5-of-8) from the field and 40 percent (2-of-5) from beyond the arc, while also adding a board, an assist, and a steal against the Roadrunners.
- Dyllan Hanna and Janeta Rozentale tied for a team-leading nine rebounds each.
- Florida Atlantic outscored UTSA 17-16 in the second quarter, in addition to nearly doubling up the Roadrunners in second-chance points, 15-8.
- The Golden Hurricane enter this weekend's matchup at 12-5 overall and 2-2 in league play and are currently on a two-game losing streak after dropping contests against Temple, 58-48, and South Florida, 68-52.
- Tulsa is led by head coach Angie Nelp who is in her third year with the Golden Hurricane. Nelp has helped lead the Golden Hurricane to a 46-29 record during her three seasons at Tulsa.
- As a team, Tulsa leads the AAC in 3-point attempts per game (26.1) and defensive rebounds per game (30.1), second in field goal percentage defense (35.9) and 3-pointers per game (7.9), third in winning percentage (.706), fourth in field goal percentage (.417) and 3-point percentage defense (27.8) and fifth in scoring offense (68.8) and blocks per game (4.2).
- Tulsa's offense is paced by AAC leader Temira Poindexter and Delanie Crawford, who are averaging 19.5 and 17.6 points per game this season.
- The duo of Poindexter and Crawford also tie for a team-leading 2.2 assists per game.
- Defensively, Crawford boasts a team-leading 6.3 rebounds per game and 1.1 steals per game, while Poindexter has tallied a team-best 1.5 blocks per game.
- Florida Atlantic is tied 1-1 all-time against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. When playing at home, the Owls trail 0-1 against Tulsa, falling in the last meeting between the two programs, 70-68, on Nov. 26, 2021, in Boca Raton.
- Following Saturday's contest, the Owls will head back out on the road as they travel to the Volunteer State to take on the Memphis Tigers on Saturday, Jan. 20. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
