BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic women's tennis will open the 2024 Spring season on Friday, Jan. 12 versus Iowa. The match, scheduled for 1 p.m., will be played in Fort Myers, Florida, on the FGCU campus.
Â
Entering the season, the Owls will look to replace two seniors from a year ago. They believe that they have done just that with the addition of freshman
Panna Bartha and through the hard work of an otherwise experienced team, led by Millie-Matthews, who posted a team-leading 14 singles wins a year ago. Three returning Owls tallied double digit doubles victories with sophomore
Carla Galmiche (12-12) and Matthews (12-13) recording 12 and Victoria Gomez O'Haydon (11-8) adding 11.
Â
Head Coach
Ricardo Gonzalez will return for his second full season at the helm and will once again be joined by
Maria Alvarez. The duo will guide the Owls in their first meeting versus Iowa.
Florida Atlantic will then return home to host 12 of the next 15 matches, each played in the state of Florida. FAU is scheduled to open its home season on Sunday, Jan. 14 at noon versus Old Dominion, however please check the schedules as weather may force a change.
