Opelika, Ala. – Florida Atlantic men's golf finished fifth of 18 teams at the Auburn Tiger Invitational on Tuesday.
Max Sturdza posted his third straight round of three-under, 69 to finish as sole runner-up.
Â
- Sturdza began the day one shot out of a four-way tie for the lead but after birdies at the second and fourth holes he found himself alone at the top
- The senior was even for the day when he stepped onto the 12th tee. He proceeded to go birdie, birdie, eagle at 12, 13, and 14 to retake the lead.
- In the clubhouse at -9 well before the final groups, it became a waiting game to see if the score would hold up.
- Ultimately, Auburn's Carson Bacha also eagled the 14th hole and added a birdie at 16 to claim a two-shot victory.
- The result was the third runner-up finish of Sturdza's career.
- Elsewhere for the Owls, Alex Maguire circled five birdies on Tuesday for a final round 70 (-2) to finish T20.
- Jack Wehle shook off a slow start to sign for 71 (-1). Wehle birdied four of his first five holes on the back nine.
