TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida Atlantic men's golf (301-299-307—907) finished in a tie for seventh place at Tuesday's Seminole Intercollegiate hosted by Florida State.
Max Sturdza (+7) and
Alex Maguire (+9) led the Owls individually. The hosts, Florida State (-14), won the team title by 38 shots over runner-up North Alabama. The Noles also claimed the top three individual finishers led by Gray Albright at 10-under.
- After a delay to the start of Monday's first round due to weather, Sturdza stormed out of the gates. Starting on the ninth hole (shotgun start), the senior birdied five straight from holes 11-15.
- He would add two more birdies at three and four and finish the opening round -1 (71) and in a tie for eighth.
- With the delayed start, the day's second round was suspended and resumed Tuesday morning.
- Maguire bounced back from an opening 78 to post an even-par 72 highlighted by four birdies.
- In the final round on Tuesday, Sturdza edged out his teammate by one shot with a 74 to finish T14. Maguire was two back for the tournament in a tie for 22nd.
The Owls are back in action on March 29 in San Francisco at the Goodwin Intercollegiate hosted by Stanford. TPC Harding Park – home of the 2020 PGA Championship – will play host.
