BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University women's tennis has won five of its last six matches, including a 6-1 win over #62 Wichita State University, on Tuesday.
The entire team is settling into a confident and competitive place with seven players riding a winning streak, including
Victoria Gomez O'Hayon and
Millie-Mae Matthews whose streaks stand at five and four matches, respectively. Gomez O'Hayon and Matthews team together for doubles and are undefeated in 2023. They are 4-0 at No. 2 doubles and 2-0 on court three.
On Tuesday, the Owls captured the doubles point by winning courts two and three in the best two-of-three format.
Wichita captured court five to even the match, but the threat was short lived with senior
Martina Kudelova taking court one in a hard-fought first set, 7-5, and the second set at 6-0 for the win to give FAU a 2-1 lead. A Matthews' win on court six was followed by a
Lexi Silna 6-2, 6-4 win on court three and the match belonged to FAU. Victories by Gomez O'Hayon and
Katerina Filip closed out the 6-1 match for FAU.
FAU will return to the courts at 10 a.m. this Friday, March 17 to play host to Columbia. The match will mark FAU's seventh contest in 14 days.
