BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic women's basketball team (12-15, 5-13 C-USA) will close out the regular season this weekend as they host the Rice Owls (20-7, 11-7 C-USA) on Thursday, before welcoming the LA Tech Lady Techsters (17-11, 10-8 C-USA) on Saturday for senior day.
FAU enters this weekend at 12-15 overall and 5-13 in Conference USA play but have fallen in their last six games. The 2022-23 season marks the second season for the Owls under head coach
Jennifer Sullivan, who has led the Owls to a 17-40 record over her two seasons in Boca Raton.
The Owls have been led this season by freshman
Aniya Hubbard, who ranks first among all C-USA freshmen and eighth in the conference in scoring with 14.2 points per game. Hubbard leads the league in steals, collecting 66 this season, averaging 2.4 per game, in addition to leading the Owls in assists, dishing out 2.6 per contest this season. Junior

Janeta Rozentale round out the Owls top three scorers, averaging 9.7 and 8.7 points per contest, respectively. Rozentale is also the Owls leader on the glass, posting 5.9 rebounds per game and registering 18 blocked shots this season.
As a team, the Owls rank second in C-USA in rebounding margin (4.4) and rebounds per game (38.9), third in free throw attempts per game (20.5) and defensive rebounds per game (26.2), fourth in steals per game (8.5) and fouls per game (17.6), and fifth in scoring defense (66.6), 3-point percentage defense (.301), offensive rebounds per game (12.7) and free throws made per game (14.2).
Rice is 20-7 overall this season and 11-7 in league play, and the Owls are currently on a three-game winning streak entering Thursday's contest. The Owls are in their second season under head coach Lindsay Edmonds, who has led Rice to a 34-20 record during her two seasons in Houston.
Rice has been led by four scorers averaging double digits this season. Ashlee Austin has averaged a team-leading 13 points per game, while Malia Fisher, Destiny Jackson, and India Bellamy have recoded 12.3, 10.9, and 10.5 points per contest each, respectively. Jackson also leads Rice in assists, dishing out 3.6 assists per game, and steals, grabbing 1.5 steals per game. Defensively, the Owls rebounds leader is Fisher, averaging 7.0 boards per game, and Rice's blocks leader is Bellamy, who has tallied 19 blocks this season.
As a team, Rice ranks second in Conference USA in scoring offense (72.0), winning percentage (.741), field goal percentage (.443), free throws made per game (14.8) and free throw attempts per game (20.6), third in scoring margin (5.6), 3-point percentage (.325), and 3-point percentage defense (.285), fourth in scoring defense (66.4) and rebounding margin (3.3), and fifth in rebounds per game (36.3), 3-pointers per game (6.1), 3-point attempts per game (18.8) and turnovers forced per game (16.7).
LA Tech enters this weekend 17-11 overall and 10-8 in C-USA play. The Lady Techsters had won five-straight contests before falling in their last game against C-USA leader Middle Tennessee, 61-58. LA Tech is in its seventh season under head coach Brooke Stoehr, who has led the Lady Techsters to a 118-90 record during her time in Ruston.
The Lady Techsters have been led by Keiunna Walker and Anna Larr Roberson this season. Walker ranks second in C-USA, averaging 17.5 points per game, while Roberson has averaged a team second-best 12.9 points per game. Walker leads the Lady Techsters in steals, collecting 1.2 steals per game and Roberson is leading the Lady Techsters on the boards, pulling down 6.9 rebounds per game. LA Tech's assists leader is Salma Bates, who has tallied 3.5 assists per game, while Mackenzie Wurm is LA Tech's leader in blocks, recording 42 blocks during the 2022-23 season.
As a team, LA Tech leads the league in field goal percentage (.444), 3-point percentage (.337), and fouls per game (15.5), rank second in scoring defense (60.8), field goal percentage defense (.388), and free throw percentage (.770), third in assists per game (13.1) and turnovers per game (14.9), fourth in scoring margin (5.2), winning percentage (60.7), assists/turnover ratio (0.88), 3-point percentage defense (.297), and turnover margin (0.43), and fifth in blocks per game (2.9).
Rice leads the all-time series against the Owls, 6-2, and have won the last six meetings between the two teams, including an 85-64 contest earlier this season on Feb. 9. In Boca Raton, Rice has won three of the four contests between the two programs.
LA Tech leads the all-time series between the Owls and the Lady Techsters, 9-2. LA Tech has won three of the last five meetings between the two programs, including a 68-56 battle earlier this season in Ruston. LA Tech also holds an advantage for contests played in Boca Raton as the Lady Techsters lead the Owls, 3-2.
Following Saturday's game, the Owls will prepare for the C-USA Tournament on March 8-11 at the Force Center at the Star in Frisco, Texas.
