Florida Atlantic closes out its two-game road trip Saturday at LA Tech

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women's basketball (12-11, 5-9 C-USA) heads to Louisiana on Saturday, Feb. 11 to close out the Owls' two-game road trip at LA Tech (13-10, 6-7 C-USA). Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. ET at Thomas Assembly Center.

Scouting FAU

FAU is currently 12-11 overall and 5-9 in Conference USA play this season and is just coming off an 85-64 loss against Rice on Thursday. The Owls are in their second season under head coach Jennifer Sullivan, who has led the Owls to a 17-36 record over her two seasons in Boca Raton.

The Owls are led by Conference USA-leading freshman Aniya Hubbard, who ranks first among freshman and eighth in the conference in scoring with 14.0 points per game. Hubbard also leads C-USA in steals, collecting 61 this season, averaging 2.7 per contest. She is also the Owls' leader in assists, dishing out 2.4 per contest this season. Joiya Maddox and Janeta Rozentale round out the Owls top three scorers this season with 9.3 and 9.0 points per game, respectively. Rozentale leads FAU on the glass, posting 6.2 rebounds per game and tallying 16 blocked shots this season.

As a team, the Owls rank second in Conference USA in rebounding margin (4.7), rebounds per game (39.8), and free throw attempts per game (21.2), third in 3-point percentage defense (28.9), fourth in scoring defense (65.4), defensive rebounds per game (26.5), free throws made per game (14.5), and steals per game (8.5), and fifth in offensive rebounds per game (13.3) and fewest fouls per game (17.6).

Scouting LA Tech

LA Tech enters Saturday's contest 13-10 overall and 6-7 in C-USA play. The Lady Techsters are just coming off a 76-65 win over FIU. LA Tech is in its seventh season under head coach Brooke Stoehr who has helped lead the Lady Techsters to a 114-89 record over her time in Ruston.

The Lady Techsters are led by Keiunna Walker, who ranks second in Conference USA with 17.1 points per game. Walker is tied with Silvia Nativi in steals, averaging a team-leading 1.0 per contest. The Lady Techsters assists leader is Salma Bates, who has dished out 3.6 per game. Defensively, Anna Larr Roberson leads LA Tech in rebounds, grabbing 7.1 per contest this season, while Mackenzie Wurm leads the Lady Techsters in blocks, averaging 1.5 blocks per game this season.

LA Tech ranks first in C-USA in field goal percentage (.452) and fewest fouls per game (15.4), second in 3-point percentage (.337), scoring defense (60.7), field goal percentage defense (38.5), free throw percentage (77.6), and assists per game (13.6), third in scoring margin (4.9), assist/turnover ratio (0.92), and turnovers per game (14.7), fourth in winning percentage (.565) and turnover margin (0.26), and fifth in blocks per game (2.9).

Series History

FAU trails in the all-time series against LA Tech, 8-2. In Ruston, the Owls have never won in their four trips to visit LA Tech. The Owls have won two of their last four meetings with the Lady Techsters, however LA Tech took the last meeting 64-49 on Feb. 3, 2022.
