BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic women's basketball team (3-3) returns to Paradise this week as the Owls kick off a three-game homestretch on Tuesday against the St. Thomas Bobcats at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
- The Owls enter this week's contest at 3-3 overall and are looking to bounce back from a two-game skid, including a 77-53 loss on the road at Nebraska last Wednesday.
- As a team, the Owls rank in the top half in the AAC in numerous categories. Florida Atlantic ranks fifth in field goal percentage defense (.354), sixth in scoring defense (62.50), and seventh in field goal percentage (.406), rebounding offense (38.67), defensive rebounds per game (26.67).
- The Owls offensive leader is sophomore guard Aniya Hubbard, who ranks fifth in the AAC with a team-leading 18.2 points per game this season. She also leads the Owls in steals, collecting 2.0 steals per contest. Hubbard is averaging 48 percent from the field, 33 percent from 3-point range, and 71 percent from the line.
- Devyn Scott leads the Owls in assists, dishing out a team-best 2.3 assists per game.
- On the glass, the Owls are led by Janeta Rozentale, who ranks third in the AAC and leads the team with 8.0 rebounds per game.
- Dyllan Hanna leads the Owls in blocks, recording 1.5 blocks per game.
- The Owls fell 77-53 in a hard-fought road battle against Big Ten foe Nebraska.
- Florida Atlantic's biggest highlight of the contest was graduate guard Rose Caverly surpassing 1,000 career points in the third quarter against the Huskers, officially reaching the mark with her second free throw at the 1:09 mark of the third.
- Caverly led the Owls in the contest, scoring a team-high nine points, and adding three boards, an assist, and a steal.
- Dyllan Hanna pulled down a team-leading seven boards, while Jada Moore led the team with two assists and Aniya Hubbard collected a team-high two steals.
- The Owls outshot the Cornhuskers from the field, shooting 41.3 percent (19-of-46) to the Cornhuskers 40.8 percent (29-of-71).
- Florida Atlantic also had success in the second quarter, outscoring Nebraska 19-18 heading into the locker room.
- St. Thomas enter Tuesday's contest at 5-2 and are receiving votes in the NAIA national poll.
- The Bobcats are led offensively by Brooke Bogatz, Bria Brown, and Ke'Ajia Williams, averaging 17.6, 11.9, and 11.2 points per game. Bogatz also leads St. Thomas in assists, dishing out 4.1 assists per game.
- Defensively, the Bobcats leader on the glass is Williams, who has collected 7.7 rebounds per game. Camilla Flefil leads St. Thomas in steals, tallying 2.3 steals per contest.
- Paige McDonald leads the Bobcats in blocks this season, recording 2.1 blocks per game through seven games this season.
- The Owls hold a perfect 3-0 record all-time against the Bobcats, including a 2-0 record in Boca Raton. The Owls and Bobcats haven't played each other in 30 years, with the last meeting between the two programs being January 15, 1993, which saw the Owls earn a 103-70 win against the Bobcats in Boca Raton.
- The Owls continue their three-game home stretch on Thursday, Dec. 14 as they welcome rival FIU for Education Day. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.
