Hubbard named AAC Preseason All-Conference Second Team

IRVING, Texas – Florida Atlantic women's basketball sophomore guard Aniya Hubbard was named to the American Athletic Conference Preseason All-Conference Second Team.
The honor marks the first preseason accolade and fifth all-time non-weekly award for the astounding sophomore.
Hubbard enters her second season with the Owls in 2023-24 after making an instant impact in Boca Raton last year as a freshman. She led the team in scoring, averaging 14.5 points per game, while also collecting a team second-best 5.6 rebounds per game. Aniya led the league in steals during the 2022-23 season, gathering 75 on the season, averaging 2.5 per contest. She also led all freshmen in scoring (14.5 ppg), rebounding (5.6 rpg), field goal percentage (.462), and steals (75), in addition to collecting a league-leading five Freshman of the Week honors throughout the 2022-23 season (Dec. 19, Jan. 2, Jan. 23, Feb. 6, and Feb. 27).
The Owls will play in an exhibition contest against Barry on Nov. 1 at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena before opening the regular season on the road at Mercer on Nov. 9.
