Jodi Smith has been named to the AAC All-Conference Second Team, freshman
Olivia Bori was named to the AAC All-Rookie Team, and Florida Atlantic earned the Team Fair Play award on Monday afternoon by the league.
Smith, junior, started in 16 out of the 17 games played this season and recorded a total of 1392 minutes on the season, playing in 11 complete matches. She was named AAC Defender of the Week on September 25. That week, Smith led the Owl backline to two shutouts in victories over Temple and FIU. The Florida Atlantic defense only allowed five shots on goal over the two matches. On being recognized as All-Conference Second Team, Smith said, "I am super thankful for this achievement, especially as we moved into a new conference, I couldn't have done it without any of the girls who I get to play alongside, it's a team effort and without them, it would be very hard. We have come a long way and I am very excited for the conference tournament this upcoming week!".
Freshman
Olivia Bori was named AAC All-Rookie in her first season as an Owl. Bori made an appearance in 18 games and started in 17 this season. She is tied for first in leading the team in assists, recording four. Her first collegiate assist was registered during A&M Corpus Christi. After being named AAC All-Rookie, Bori said, "I am so honored for this achievement and am grateful for my teammates, coaches, and family for their continuous support! I am looking forward to my first conference tournament and postseason run with my team! Go Owls!".
Florida Atlantic earned the Team Fair Play Award after their inaugural season in the American Athletic Conference.
