BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic volleyball (11-9, 3-4 AAC) heads to the Lone Star State this Friday, Oct. 13 as they prep for a tough road test against the AAC-leading Rice Owls (13-4, 7-0 AAC) inside Tudor Fieldhouse.
- Florida Atlantic enters the week at 11-9 overall and 3-4 in AAC play. The Owls have earned four-set league wins against Temple, ECU, and Tulsa.
- As a team, the Owls lead the AAC in kills per set (14.07) and assists per set (13.20), while ranking second in total attacks (2,577), kills (985), assists (924), and service aces (116).
- The Owls offensive leaders are Arianna Beckham, Romina Cornelio, Katelynn Robine, Valeria Rosado, and Kaila Ru.
- Beckham boasts a team-leading 194 kills, averaging 2.81 kills per set, while Cornelio has 145 kills, averaging 2.10 kills per set. Robine has recorded 142 kills and is averaging a team second-best 2.66 kills per set, while Rosado leads the Owls in double-doubles with five and posting 134 kills, recording 1.97 kills per set. Ru rounds out the Owls top five scorers with 131 kills and a 2.18 kills per set average.
- Victoria Hensley and Noelle Stephens power the Owls offense. Hensley leads the Owls with 601 assists, averaging 8.59 assists per set, while Stephens has 213 assists, tallying 3.80 assists per set this season.
- The Owls' back row is led by libero Isabelle Northam, who has recorded 300 digs and boasts a 4.29 dig per set average. Cornelio and Rosado follow just behind with 2.64 and 2.50 digs per set, respectively.
- Ru leads the Owls in blocks with 49 on the season, while Lauryn Green ranks first on the team in blocks per set, tallying 0.98 per frame this season.
- The Rice Owls enters this weekend at 13-4 on the season and remain perfect in AAC play at 7-0. Rice is just coming off a pair of four-set wins last weekend against Memphis, 3-1, and Charlotte, 3-1.
- As a team, the Owls lead the AAC in digs per set (19.14), blocks per set (2.64), and opponent hitting percentage (.139). The rank second in the league in winning percentage (.765), team attacks per set (37.81), and total digs (1,129).
- Offensively, Rice is led by Danyle Courtley, Emilia Weske, and Sahara Maruska. Courtley boasts a team-leading 212 kills, averaging 3.59 per set, while Weske and Maruska have 165 kills and 119 kills, averaging 3.00 and 2.33 kills per set, respectively.
- Rice's assists leaders are Darby Harris and Izzy Rawlings, who have recorded 336 and 270 assists, averaging 5.69 and 6.00 assists per set, respectively.
- The Owls' back row is anchored by Nia McCardell, who leads the conference in total digs and digs per set, with 308 digs and 5.22 digs per set on the season.
- Rice's blocking leader is Kaitlyn Knobbe, who has recorded 56 blocks, posting 1.14 blocks per set.
- Friday's match marks the 11th all-time meeting between Florida Atlantic and Rice. The Rice Owls hold the all-time series 8-2. Florida Atlantic has yet to win in Houston, falling in all four matches played in Tudor Fieldhouse.
- The Owls will stay on the road as they close out their three-game road stretch with a pair of matches against the UAB Blazers on Friday, Oct. 20 and Saturday, Oct. 21. Friday's first serve is set for 7 p.m. ET inside Bartow Arena.
