BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic Owls (2-1) will head to Tallahassee, Florida this Saturday, Jan. 21, where FAU will face Florida State University (3-0) at 1 p.m. The match will be the first of 11 scheduled road matches.
The two teams have previously met 11 times, all in Tallahassee, with the Noles coming away with the last meeting, a 4-3 victory in April of 2021.
The Owls are coming off a competitive three match weekend. Senior captain
Hunter Robbins holds an unblemished record in both singles and doubles, concluding his opening weekend 3-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles.
While Robbins play was praised by
Ricardo Gonzalez, FAU's director of tennis, the performance was not the only one recognized. Newcomer
Alberto Colas walked away from the weekend with a 1-0 singles mark as he continues to adjust to "Paradise."
Filip Krolo closed out his third set to clinch the Owls' 4-0 victory over USF, in a match that was much tighter than the final score.
FAU also found their footing in doubles play with the duo of
Kevin Huempfner and Robbins leading the way at 2-0.
Alvaro Fernandez Horta and
Finn Stodder also came out of the weekend with a perfect 1-0 record.
The Owls will next travel to FGCU on Wednesday, Jan. 25 and will then head west to Austin, Texas where they will pick up two matches. The first western match is versus host Arizona on Saturday, Jan. 28 and the second versus either Cal or Texas on Sunday, January 29. FAU will not return home until March 3rd.
Home matches are played at the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center and are free and open to the public. Seating is available and cheering is encouraged.
