BOCA RATON, Fla. –
Martina Kudelova, a redshirt junior tennis player on Florida Atlantic University's nationally ranked team, earned Conference USA Player of the Week honors, announced by C-USA on Wednesday.
Kudelova, who received the same honor back in January, picked up two wins last week, leading FAU to a 4-3 win over Brown.
Kudelova gutted out a win on court one doubles with partner
Katerina Filip, to clinch the doubles point for the Owls. With doubles play tied at 1-1, Kudelova and Filip captured the match 7-6 (9-7). The match was first tied at 3-3, then 4-4, then 5-5 and finally 6-6 before the tiebreaker was played. That two were tied until the duo broke away at 7-7.
Kudelova then went on to add another much-needed point with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) win on court one, ultimately contributing to two of the team's four points in the 4-3 win. With the win, FAU moved to 11-9 on the season, reaching double-digit wins every season since 2011 except the shortened 2020 season. Kudelova is one of four Owls who have reached double-digit wins in 2022 with an 10-9 dual match mark, thus far.
The Owls will play their final two regular-season matches on the road. FAU will first travel to FIU on Friday, April 8 and will then play at USF on April 10. Both matches are scheduled for noon.
