ROUND TWO PAIRINGS
Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's golf team has a four-shot lead after 18 holes at the Conference USA Championship. In the individual competition,
Letizia Bagnoli holds a three-shot lead after an opening round 70 (-2).
- One of the pre-tournament favorites, Bagnoli stormed out of the gates on Monday. She was four-under after seven holes
- The par-four 4th and par-four 12th played as two of the three toughest holes in the first round but not for the senior from Florence, Italy
- Bagnoli birdied both in addition to holes 15 and 16 (two-thirds of PGA National's vaunted "Bear Trap" three-hole stretch)
- Blanka Decker recovered from a rocky start and played the final 15 holes in even-par.
- After birdies at 13 and 18 to right the ship, the German finished her round with a flurry adding two more on the par-five sixth and par-four ninth
- Decker is tied for 5th – five shots behind her teammate at the top of the leaderboard
- Sophomore Olivia Bergner is tied for 17th after an opening 77 (+5)
- Rosa Barnak is tied for 36th (81) while Kacey Walker is tied for 54th (87)
- The Owls (+15) have a four-shot advantage over Old Dominion in second place
The Owls will tee off at 8:40 am on Tuesday alongside Old Dominion (+19) and UTSA (+20)
