BOCA RATON, Fla. – The No. 12 Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball team (4-2, 2-0 in Conference USA) showcased domination on the first of two days of the FAU Beach Burrow Bash. The Owls earned a 4-1 victory over (RV) Florida Gulf Coast (4-2) in the morning and continued that momentum into their afternoon match versus Austin Peay (0-2) to sweep the Governors, 5-0.

The first point of the match belonged to FGCU, who defeated
Maylin Bouffard and
Abby Jackson in straight sets, 21-9, 21-16. On court four,
Jillienne Cangelosi and
Christine Jarman brought it back for FAU with a three-set win, 21-16, 19-21, 15-13. Cangelosi's kill in the tight third set tied up the team scores, 1-1. FAU pulled ahead following a straight-set win by
Ellie Austin and
Julie Honzovicova, 21-15, 21-12, on court three. The Owls clinched the match courtesy of a straight-set win by
Courtney Moon and
Marketa Svozilova on court two, taking both sets, 21-15. After clinching the match,
Erica Brok and
Mackenzie Morris delivered the Owls' fourth point following a dominant 21-11 second set victory.

The Owls dominated on all five courts against the Governors in straight-set wins. Bouffard and Jarman earned the Owls their first point of the match with a dominating 21-5 first set win. The duo, who played their first regular season match together, closed things out in set two with a 21-14 finish. Allison and Mignerey closed things out next on court five following a 21-9 set two victory. On court three, Honzovicova helped the Owls earn their third point with a monster kill, as the duo won their second set 21-12. Morris and Brok wrapped things up shortly thereafter on court one with their fifth consecutive victory (21-18, 21-13). Moon and Svozilova improved their record to 5-1 following a 21-10, 21-10 straight set win on court two.
