DALLAS – After a stellar week and helping lead the Owls to a decisive 70-60 win over FIU to open C-USA play, Florida Atlantic women's basketball freshman guard
Aniya Hubbard has been named Conference USA Freshman of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday. The 2022-23 C-USA Players of the Week are presented by Blenders Eyewear and are voted on by the league's sports information directors.
The honor marks back-to-back C-USA Freshman of the Week accolades for the Owls, after teammate
Dyllan Hanna earned the award a week ago and the first career honor for Hubbard.
The Hoover, Alabama native had a huge performance for the Owls last Tuesday in their C-USA opener against FIU. Hubbard scored a team second-best 16 point, shooting an impressive 64 percent from the field, tying a career-best seven made field goals (7-of-11). She also led the team in rebounds, pulling down seven boards, in addition to adding an assist and a steal in the win.
The Owls close out non-conference play this week visiting Chicago State today, Dec. 19 for a 4 p.m. ET tip, and then close out the week at Illinois on Wednesday, Dec. 21 for a 1 p.m. ET tip.
