BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's swim team is set to host the annual 'FAU Fun Invitational' on Tuesday, Dec. 20, beginning at 10 a.m. The meet, to be held at the FAU Aquatic Center, will be the first 'Fun Invite' the Owls have hosted since 2019. While not officially scored, the event will offer FAU swimmers one last showcase as they wrap up 2022.

Competing Teams

Florida Atlantic (Men & Women)
Rice (Women)

Florida Atlantic's women's team will compete directly against Rice's team, while the men's team will race amongst each other in between heats.

Last Time Out

FAU competed on Sunday, Dec. 18 at the Open Water National Championship in Miami, a competitive 5K race featuring 41 different universities.
Men

The men's team finished in fifth place out of 15 teams
Timo Paisley placed in ninth out of 83 swimmers (56:24.79)
David Arneskov placed in 12th with a time of 56:54.79
Logan Thornsberry had a time of 58:13.99
Nick Shaffer earned a time of 58:29.49
Cameron Speed finished with a time of 59:23.65

Women

The four swimmers for FAU combined for a 11th place finish out of 21 teams
Kirsty Hobson was the top finisher for the women's side, finishing in 27th place out of 110 swimmers with a time of 1:00:45
Kasia Szlek posted a time of 1:02.52
Maggie Casey finished with a time of 1:03:36
Hannah Garner earned a time of 1:05:28

On Deck

The Owls will kick off 2023 at the Pre-Conference Diving Invite, to be held on Jan. 3 at the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center in Miami.
