BOCA RATON, Fla.Â
– The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's swim team will send select athletes to Miami to compete in the 2022 CSCAA Open Water National Championship on Sunday. They will be among 239 athletes from 41 different universities set for a 5K race. The men's race will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the women's race at 10 a.m.

The top five individual finishers in each race will qualify for the USA Swimming 5K Open Water Championship. There will also be team scores based off of the top five finishers from each university. Each swimmer's score will be determined by their placing, with the lowest combined team score being the winner.

Six Owls from four different countries competed in the Toyota U.S. Open from Nov. 30 - Dec. 3 in Greensboro, North Carolina. The meet offered them a chance to qualify for their national teams. The weekend was highlighted by
Rateb Hussein's qualifying for the 'B' final in the 100 fly (54.28), where he finished with a time of 54.37. Hussein is set to swim for the Egyptian national team from Dec. 22-28.

It will be a quick turnaround for FAU, as the whole swimming squad will get together to host the FAU Fun Invite on Dec 20. against Old Dominion and Rice at the FAU Aquatic Center.
