Owls look for sixth-straight win versus FIU Tuesday

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic women's basketball team (6-1, 0-0 C-USA) opens up Conference USA play on Tuesday, riding a five-game winning streak. The Owls host rival FIU (4-3, 0-0 C-USA) on Dec. 13 for a 7 p.m. tip inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.
The Owls are paced by Janeta Rozentale, Aniya Hubbard, and Alexa Zaph, who are averaging 11.4, 10.9, and 10.3 points per game this season, respectively. Rozentale is also the Owls leader in rebounds, averaging 7.7 per game, and blocks, registering 1.0 blocks per contest. Hubbard leads the Owls in assists, dishing out 2.57 per game, and steals, collecting 1.57 per game. After earning her fourth double-double against Kennesaw State, Rozentale is the C-USA leader in double-doubles this season with four over the Owls' seven contests this season. Janeta also leads C-USA in offensive rebounds per game, averaging 3.9 per contest, fourth in total rebounds per game, averaging 8.5 per contest, and eighth in blocks per game, denying 1.0 per outing this season.
As a team, the Owls lead C-USA in scoring defense, holding opponents to a league-leading 53.0 points per game, field goal percentage defense (.338), 3-point percentage defense (.211), defensive rebounds per game (31.3), and fewest fouls per game (14.7). FAU ranks second in the league in scoring margin (13.0), total rebounds per game (45.57), offensive rebounds per game (14.3), and rebounding margin (9.7).
The Saint Augustine, Florida native had a career night against Florida National last Tuesday. Hanna tied for the team lead and recorded a career-best 18 points, shooting 89 percent (8-of-9) from the field, and a perfect 100 percent (2-of-2) from the free throw line, while also pulling down six rebounds and adding a block and a steal in the Owls' dominant 61-point win.
The honor marked the first career award for the freshman and the first for the Owls so far this season.
The Panthers feature three players averaging double digits this season, led by Sifa Joyeuse who ranks fourth in the conference in scoring, averaging 16.9 points per game. Kaliah Henderson and Sariana Rodriguez Camacho round out FIU's double-digit scorers, averaging 11.7 and 10.6 points each, respectively. Henderson leads the Panthers in steals, averaging 3.0 per contests this season. Mihaela Lazic has dished out a team-leading 3.5 assists per game. Defensively, the Panthers are led by Maria Torres who has averaged 6.1 rebounds per game and a team-best 1.14 blocks per game this season.
As a team, FIU leads C-USA in rebounds per game (47.43), offensive rebounds per game (20.0), steals per game (12.6), turnovers forced per game (22.71), and 3-point attempts per game (26.1), and rank second in the league in scoring offense (79.9), 3-pointers per game (8.7), and free throw attempts per game (23.86).

FIU leads the all-time series between the Owls and the Panthers, 37-15. The Panthers have won the last four meetings between the two programs, with the Owls earning their last win on Jan. 15, 2021. The Panthers also hold a 16-9 advantage for games in Boca Raton. In the last meeting between the Owls and the Panthers, FIU won a 68-60 battle in the opening round of the C-USA tournament last season.Up Next
