BOCA RATON, Fla. –  The 2022-23 season for the Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team will tip off on Monday night. FAU will host Lynn for a 7 p.m. start time on Nov. 7 at Abessino Court in FAU Arena to get the season underway.

Â
FAU head coach
Dusty May enters year five at the helm of the program and brings back a very experienced squad. The Owls are returning their top six scorers from a season ago and four out of their five starters. Between the experience, depth and promising group of newcomers, the Owls are poised to have a successful season.
Â
Entering his sophomore season is guard
Alijah Martin, who garnered Preseason All-Conference USA honors this year. Martin came onto the scene with an impressive season last year, leading the Owls in scoring (13.9 points per game), rebounding (5.3 RPG), field goals made (145), 3-point percentage (.400), rebounding (5.3) and steals (53). His 40% mark from 3-point range ranked second in C-USA. Martin became FAU's first preseason all-conference honoree since 2019.
Â
Joining Martin in the backcourt will be returners
Michael Forrest,
Bryan Greenlee and transfer
Jalen Gaffney. Forrest, entering his fifth season, was the only Owl to start in all 34 games last season. Forrest currently sits in eighth place all-time in FAU history in scoring (1,314 points) and field goals (430), while sitting in third in 3-pointers made (251).
Â
Greenlee was another key guard for FAU a season ago, making 31 starts in 33 appearances. He ranked third on the team in scoring with 9.8 points per game, while leading the squad in assists with 111.
Â
Gaffney joins FAU after transferring to the Owls from UCONN. During his career there, Gaffney was a regular in the Huskies' lineup, playing in every game during his tenure there in a team-high 87 consecutive games played streak.
Â
Returning in the front court for FAU is sophomore center
Vladislav Goldin. Goldin averaged 6.8 points and 4.9 rebounds in 34 appearances a season ago. The Owls will certainly feature depth this season, with
Johnell Davis,
Giancarlo Rosado,
Nick Boyd,
Brandon Weatherspoon and junior college transfer
Isaiah Gaines expected to be in the mix as well.
Â
Following the season opener, the Owls will have a two-game SEC swing on the road at Ole Miss and Florida. The Owls will face Ole Miss on Nov. 11 before heading to Gainesville to take on the Gators on Nov. 14.
Â
FAU will return home for the Paradise Invitational, a three-team event with Bryant and Detroit Mercy in town from Nov. 17-21. Five more non-conference games after the Paradise Invitational will bring FAU to its Conference USA opener against in-state rival FIU on Dec. 17.
