Owls Land Three on Academic All-District Teams

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Three members of the Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team have been named to the College Sports Communications Directors All-Academic Team. Gi Krstec, Luisa Daikeler and Hailey Landrus were rewarded for their efforts both in the classroom and on the field. This trio were FAU's captains for the 2022 season.
The Academic All-District award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender. To be nominated, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, an important starter or reserve and hold at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.
Krstec has achieved a 3.57 GPA. She is currently enrolled in FAU's renowned FAU MBA of Sports Management program. Krstec put forth a tremendous year that culminated in earning Conference USA Midfielder of the Year honors. She scored seven goals and added three assists for 17 points on the year. Krstec also earned First Team All-C-USA honors and C-USA All-Academic recognition.
Daikeler has recorded a 3.95 GPA while majoring in biological sciences. Daikeler had a strong senior season and was a key component in FAU's strong defensive back line that posted a 0.95 goals against average. The Owl defense recorded nine shutouts on the season. Daikeler additionally received C-USA All-Academic honors last month.
Landrus has earned a 3.51 GPA as a marketing major and put forth a great senior season at defender for FAU. Landrus led the team in assists with eight, which tied for second in Conference USA. She also added a goal to record 12 points on the year, good for fourth on the team. For her efforts, Landrus was named Third Team All-C-USA earlier this month.
This trio's efforts played a big part in FAU's run to the Conference USA Championship title game, which was the first appearance in the conference championship game for FAU since 2019.
