BOCA RATON, Fla. – Three members of Florida Atlantic University men's soccer have been named to the 2022 Academic All-District Team ®, selected by the College Sports Communications (CSC). Defenders
Tom Abrahamsson and
Graeme Pratt and goalkeeper
Neil Strauber each earned the honor for the first time in their respective careers.
The Academic All-District award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender. To be nominated, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, an important starter or reserve and hold at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.
Strauber, a fifth year senior, started 10 games in goal this season. He finished with 44 saves and a 1.40 GAA. He earned American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week honors after a seven-save effort in a win over No. 12 SMU on November 1. For his career, Strauber ranks third all-time in program history in GK minutes and second in GAA. The native of Tel Aviv, Israel is nearing completion of his degree in Graphic Design. He will graduate in December with a 3.85 GPA.
A mainstay at outside back, Abrahamsson was the only Owl to start all 16 games in 2022. The native of Goeta, Sweden led the team in minutes played after being named as a Preseason All-Conference selection. Abrahamsson is pursuing a degree in Psychology and holds a 3.56 GPA.
Pratt started all but one game this season at center back. The Durban, South Africa native served as a team captain and was a steady influence at the back in his fourth season as an Owl. Pratt even chipped in offensively when he scored the first FAU goal in AAC history in the 1-1 draw against USF in September. Pratt has maintained a 3.67 GPA while majoring in Exercise Science and Health Promotion.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December. For the full release from the CSC visit
