BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University volleyball (11-6, 1-4 C-USA) returns to Boca Raton after a three-game road stretch on Sunday as they host the UAB Blazers (7-9, 2-2 C-USA) for the Owls' Dig Pink game. First serve is set for noon inside FAU Arena.
- The Owls enter Sunday's match with an 11-6 overall record and a 1-4 mark in C-USA play.
- FAU is just coming off its first league win of the season as the Owls earned a 3-2 road win over the Charlotte 49ers.
- Head coach Fernanda Nelson earned her 150th career victory on Friday in the Owls' 3-2 win over Charlotte. In her 11th season leading the Owls, coach Nelson has accumulated a 150-132 record throughout her time in Boca Raton.
- Senior Lauryn Green also recorded her 500th career kill on Friday after an eight-kill performance against the 49ers, pushing her career tally to 506 kills entering Sunday's contest.
- The Owls are led by sophomore trio Valeria Rosado, Katelynn Robine, and Klara Zarnovicka who have registered 3.57, 2.82, and 2.63 kills per set, respectively. Rosado's team-leading kills per set also ranks her fourth in Conference USA.
- Fellow sophomore and Owls' setter Noelle Stephens as dished out a team-leading 536 assists and has helped the Owls to a .233 attack percentage as a team this season.
- Senior Camryn Vogler anchors the Owls' backline, averaging 3.65 digs per set, while Rosado has tallied a team second-best 2.50 digs per set.
- Senior Lauryn Green and Zarnovicka have been the Owls leading blockers, posting 0.84 and 0.69 blocks per set, respectively.
- The Owls picked up their first C-USA win of the season on Friday, defeating the Charlotte 49ers 3-2 to close out their three-game road stretch. FAU secured wins in sets one and two, 25-14 and 25-19, but Charlotte responded to win sets three and four, 22-25 and 18-25, but the Owls locked in for the final set to secure the 3-2 win, 15-12.
- UAB enters Sunday's contest at 7-9 overall and with a 2-2 record in conference play.
- Head coach Betsy Freeburg is in her third year leading the Blazers and has collected a 26-31 record at UAB.
- The Blazers are led by Fernanda Maida, Alex Kells, and Maia Rackel on the attack. Maida paces the team with 3.59 kills per set, while hitting a .207 clip. Kells and Rackel are averaging 3.08 and 2.97 kills per set, respectively. Setter Lidya Canturk averages 9.71 assists per set and has directed the Blazer offense to a .219 attacking percentage as a team. Defensively, UAB is anchored by libero Erin Powers, who leads the team with 4.45 digs per set. At the net, Chloe Rodriguez has posted a team-leading 53 blocks, averaging 0.83 per set this season.
FAU leads the all-time series 6-1 against UAB. Inside FAU Arena, the Owls hold a 3-1 record and have won the last six games between the two programs dating back to Oct. 3, 2014. In their last meeting, FAU earned a 3-1 win over UAB in Birmingham on Oct. 27, 2018.
The Owls remain at home next weekend as they host the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders for FAU's sole game of the weekend on Friday, Oct. 14 for a 7 p.m. first serve at FAU Arena.
