BOCA RATON, Fla. – The American Athletic Conference (AAC) has announced its weekly honor roll for men's soccer. Florida Atlantic graduate senior midfielder Blake Dean and graduate senior goalkeeper Axel Hofmann were each selected to this week's team for their efforts in Saturday's win over UCF.
Dean scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 68th minute of the Owls' 2-1 victory. It was his first goal of the season, and it materialized when UCF failed to clear an FAU corner midway through the second half. The Englewood, Fla. native took one touch and sent a bullet into the top left corner from nearly 25 yards out.
At the opposite end of the pitch, Hofmann stood tall with seven saves in goal – a new career-high for the native of Forcheim, Germany. Hofmann had previously earned his first clean sheet last week in a 1-0 win over UAB.
Dean and Hofmann join Andreas Raisanen and Victor Claudel as previous FAU players to earn a spot on the AAC weekly honor roll so far this season.
