Owls Fall on the Road

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team (2-2) played its fourth match, in as many contests, on the road and fell at Miami, 7-0, Tuesday morning.
FAU will play two more on the road for a total of six season-opening road contests before returning to Boca Raton to play host for the first time of 2022, on Friday, Feb. 4.
On Tuesday, the Owls traveled an hour south to face perennial power Miami. The Canes picked up the doubles point and had clinched the match before all eyes turned to courts two and three, where FAU was challenging UM's ranked players and forced a tiebreak set on court 3.
On court two, junior Katerina Filip forced her opponent, the country's No. 104 best player, to come from behind to close out the second set of the match with a 7-5 score. On court 3, freshman Lexi Silna captured her first set and fell in a third set tiebreaker (10-5).
The Owls will next play in the ITA Kickoff Weekend at the University of Texas.
