BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team (8-2) will host the Sunshine Challenge Cup from Sept. 16-17. The Owls will play against Miami (7-0), Florida Gulf Coast University (7-2) and UCF (4-5) with all matches taking place at Abessinio Court.

The Owls enter the tournament coming off a 2-1 showing at last weekend's Tiger Invitational hosted at Towson and have every reason to expect success going forward. This will be the final weekend of matches for FAU before their Conference USA schedule begins on Sept. 24.

Lending a Hand

FAU has gotten great production out of setters Stephanie Young and MiaBella English, who have combined to lead the Owls to a team average of 13.51 assists per match, which is currently sixth in the country.

Sophomore outside hitter Sonte Stewart is coming a season-high two blocks against Lehigh.

The Owls' 69 assists as a team in their 3-1 victory over Stetson on Sept. 3 was the most for any NCAA squad this season.

Taking Dead Aim

Klara Zarnovicka continues to keep opposing defenses on their heels with her tremendous serving ability; her 25 aces are good enough for 2nd in the national rankings.

If the season ended today, middle blocker Lauryn Green's .385 hitting percentage (5th in C-USA) would be the highest in FAU program history

Series History

FAU vs. Miami – The Hurricanes lead the all-time series against the Owls with a record of 11-1. The two teams last played up in Orlando on Sept. 20, 2019, when Miami won a five-set thriller that came down to deuce in the final period.

FAU vs. UCF - The Owls trail 34-9 against UCF in their history, and will be looking for payback following their most recent game on Jan. 26 of this year in Orlando, a match the Knights won 3-1.

FAU vs. FGCU - FAU is 6-5 against their cross-state rivals. The Eagles got the better of their last matchup 3-0 on Sept. 2019.
