First Team Freshman All-America Recognition Awarded to Schanuel

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Monday saw the announcement of the Perfect Game/Rawlings Freshman All-American teams, and Florida Atlantic University baseball's Nolan Schanuel has been named to the First Team as a utility player, one of just 13 Division I hitters nationwide named to that top tier.

The Boynton Beach native has earned a slew of offseason honors after a first year that saw him record 23 extra base hits (including 11 home runs), contributing towards 114 total bases and a slash line of .343/.444/.576. He previously had been named a Freshman All-America by Collegiate Baseball as well.

Schanuel is currently starring this summer season for the Bethesda Big Train of the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League, and will return to Boca Raton later this summer in preparation for his sophomore season. Stay tuned soon for a list of all the current Owls and their summer league exploits.
